Living a Purposeful Life, Not Defined by Position
I am a woman who derives my drive from purpose rather than position. For over two decades, I have served as a decision-maker in politics and government, often being the youngest, only female and person of colour at the table. It has not been an easy journey, but my unwavering desire to make a meaningful impact has kept me going. I am not motivated by titles, accolades, or roles; I am driven by my commitment to effecting positive change in my community and the world. My experience as a black woman in politics has been marked by challenges stemming from the intersectionality of race and gender. I have faced scepticism and questioned my place at the table. However, like Congresswoman Maxine Waters, I am determined to reclaim my time and make a difference every day for my daughter's and future generations' betterment.
